Warner Entertainment Japan's new ad for Blu-Ray discs...

via: communication zenbunose
celebrities get paid to get avatar-ized. It makes a huge impact, and has a catchy tag-line so, effective? maybe? and has a huge ad on mixi (popular Japanese blogging site)...but I can't get over the fact that they actually avatar-ized her.

what's up in the ad world.

insight.

^click to see details! Anti-piracy campaign...interesting usage of voodoo dolls as some of our favorite artists. (Publicis India)

"333 strokes per second. Colgate 360 Sonic Power" (Y&R Dubai)

Saatchi&Saatchi, Dubai. "In order to demonstrate Ariel with a touch of Downy's specially formulated fragrance of just-washed laundry, and the fact that it lasts for up to 5 days, Saatchi & Saatchi, Dubai created special packages that resembled the fresh produce commonly displayed in supermarket aisles. While doing their weekly groceries, shoppers were surprised to find a new variety of produce: freshly laundered clothing." (Fresh smell of laundry : Fresh produce. New! click the picture to enlarge)

random ads i find

Photobucket
McCann Worldgroup, Bangkok, Thailand
"We created life-size stickers of a Sumo wrestler, a Rugby player, a Judokan and a Wrestler. These stickers were affixed on the revolving doors of buildings to interact with our consumers. Once they pushed against the door, it seemed like these sportsmen push back and don't allow them to come in. But of course, the door opened in the usual way. The copy line simply says, "Milk makes you stronger. Meiji."
I love outdoor ads like these that consumers can directly 'interact' with. I want to see more of these humorous outdoor ads in Japan!!

Saatchi&Saatchi Canada
"To showcase the category's largest brush, a new media space was created - the subway exit turnstiles themselves. Dramatizing the benefit of LashBlast Length, the exit turnstiles were wrapped in yellow to look like an extremely long brush, and the crossbars were wrapped in black to demonstrate the extremely long lashes you get as a result of using the mascara."

This is pretty creative! The insight of relating the turning of the turnstiles to the mascara brush+lashes. It might not stand out as much as it needs to though...seeing as it's yellow and the walls of subways are usually yellow. Maybe if it was another color that stood out more...
Still looks cool!

suntory ad

I saw this ad in an advertising magazine I was reading at the bookstore...couldn't find a good image of it on the internet though :(

If you look closely, you can see that instead of being an actual skyline image, it's a lot of different glass cups filled with Suntory whiskey, and its reflection. Gorgeous! Really depicts their image of being classic, sophisticated, and timeless.

uhhhmm.....

The agency K|D of Bangkok, Thailand just made a fool out of our beloved It's hilarious, but this is totally straying from the brand image. I mean honestly, how did Lotte even agree to this? Where are they even running these print ads.... I don't know, it may just be me analyzing it from a Japanese market perspective, since it is a Japanese product.
"LOOK AT ME!!!" is the copy too...really?

広告

The year 2000 started with less than 1% of households having Internet access, and now in 2010, the Internet has become one of the main media platforms in which companies interact with consumers. It's crazy to think that all this innovation came out in just ten years. Now, with increased difficulty to catch a consumer's attention in a complex world, companies have to think outside the box and be able to create a 'brand experience'. I don't get how some companies do it...it's genius, I swear! They combine their knowledge on consumer trends with their crazy imagination and regurgitate an advertising campaign that transcends multiple forms of media and literally pulls people in to be potential customers (if successful)! There's tons more to say about this but here's a couple interesting things to think about...

Branded experience in numbers.

McDonald's campaign in Chicago by Leo Burnett in 2006. Golden arches as sun dial!

The Heineken Hand!! Genius billboard.

Coca-Cola's 'Happiness Factory' campaign by Wieden+Kennedy. Nuff said.

Coca-Cola's 'Happiness Machine'...so cute!

Forgot which agency...but this campaign for (I'm guessing) the tourism board in Melbourne is so chic and appealing. I stared at this one for a good 10 minutes. I got it off of adverblog :).

More to come...
